Meet Cole Sorensen

Cole is an awesome young man from Alexandria who has been surfing for about 3 years. Cole always has a big smile on his face and he loves to snowboard in the wintertime. He takes part in numerous competitions through out the winter and has enjoyed a bit of success in that sport. It's like he was born to be on a board! In 2013 Cole competed as an amateur and won the World Wake Surfing Championship in Amateur Skim. Having won he was required to move up to the Outlaw division for 2014. The Outlaw division has a number of well established wake surfers in both surf style and skim. Cole took the division by storm. He started the year off early and qualified for Worlds down in Arizona where he placed 2nd in Mens Outlaw Skim. In August he topped the podium in Outlaw Skim at the 10,000 Lakes Open. He followed that up with 2nd place finishes in both Outlaw Skim, and Surf Style at the inaugural The Minnesota Wakesurf Championship. In late September Cole headed out to Las Vegas to take part in the 2014 World Wake Surfing Championship. Cole did well on day one and of course went on to day two where the finalists compete to see who is the best in the world at each division. Cole couldn't have done any better! He won first place and became 2014 Outlaw Mens Skim division champion with a stand up pass; meaning he went down the course and back up, nailed every trick in his arsenal and never fell once! I'm pretty sure his hair was dry when he got back to shore. Cole has ridden for Faction Boardshop and supported SurfMN for a couple of years. Heck he's only been surfing for three! He has tons of support from all of his friends and especially his family. Parents Marc, Jenni, and his kid sister Ella, who competes in juniors. When you think about the surf lifestyle they live it as a family. They are constantly on the water as a together, inviting others to come experience the stoke they have for that endless wave. Great job this year Cole we couldn't be more proud of the local being a such a great ambassador and representative for not only the sport but our local wake surf community.
